Indieville had the opportunity to talk with Courtney Solomon during his recent trip to Nashville Film Festival for the premiere of An American Haunting. Courtney Solomon, director of An American Haunting, starring Donald Sutherland, Sissey Spacek, and James D'Arcy is breaking new ground in independent filmmaking. Solomon has demonstrated a true passion and commitment to independent filmmaking by not only raising the funds to shoot his movie but also raising the funds to launch a distribution company to give his movie a wide screen release on 2200 screens with a full studio marketing campaign. If successful Solomon plans to acquire other independent films and release them through his distribution company.

There is little doubt whether he will succeed after having the rare opportunity to talk with Courtney about his project and listen to him during an audience Q & A session in the same state where the story of the Bell Witch story originated. In a place where everyone has an opinion about this Tennessee based story, Courtney received an endorsement from the the Bell family who stood up after the screening and told Courtney he did a great job
with the movie.

Go out to the theatres on May 5th to see a movie by a group of independent filmmakers who started with a great story and realized that vision all the way to 2200 screens.

About me: Hi There. My name is Courtney Solomon. I am a film writer, director and producer. I have recently finished a film called "An American Haunting" which will be released across the country on May 5th. The film is a Supernatural Thriller/ Horror film based on the true story of the famous "Bell Witch" legend of Tennessee. The legend is the story of the case in US history where a spirit caused the death of a human being. It is a scary and creepy film, with a dark ending. I recently sent a film crew to the small town of Adams, Tennessee where the story happened to see how the people who live there today deal with the spirit. Is is still around? Do they still have any interaction with it? We were shocked and a little scared to find out that they do still believe in the Bell Witch. So, over the next ten days we will be releasing small video clips on MySpace at either my page or the American Haunting page for you to see the truth behind the legend. I wanted to do this because so many "horror" films say that they are based on a true story, but they really aren't. This one is different.
